Light on Yoga - reading between the lines
Course 2
starts 25th February
 2026

Light on Yoga by B.K.S Iyengar was published in 1966 and is considered by many to be the "bible of yoga".

In these online courses Richard will share his insight and understanding of the book through lecture and practical application, where appropriate.

These 4 week courses will give you the opportunity to ask questions, to deepen your knowledge of yoga philosophy  and learn how to find what is implicit as well as what is explicit in Light on Yoga. Audio recordings are included in the cost of the course.

You do not need to have attended course 1 in  order to attend course 2.

(recordings for course 1 are still available to purchase if you missed it, please ask for details)

Pranayama

'The emptying of the mind of the

whole of its illusion is the true

rechaka (exhalation).

The realisation that "I am Atman (spirit)" is the true puraka (inhalation).

And the steady sustenance of the

mind on this conviction is the true

 kumbhaka (retention).

This is true pranayama,'

- Sankaracharya

Asana

'Where does the body end and the mind begin? Where does the mind end and the spirit begin? They cannot be divided as they are inter-related but different aspects of the same, all pervading consciousness.' - B.K.S Iyengar
